How did Table Mountain get its name?
If you’ve ever seen Table Mountain you would have noticed its flat table top. In 1652 the Dutch settlers gave this popular landmark the name of “Tafelberg” which means Table Mountain.
It wasn’t always known as Table Mountain. The indigenous Khoisan people referred to it as the “Mountain of the Sea”.
